The Monte Cevedale (3,769 m) is one of the best-known and most popular peaks of the Ortler-Cevedale Group – and in spring it ranks among the great classics of ski mountaineering tours in South Tyrol. Vast glaciers, steady ascents, and the impressive summit panorama make this tour a high-alpine ski experience of the highest level.

This guided ski mountaineering tour starts in Sulden. Together we take the cable car to the mountain station and reach the Schaubach Hut (Rifugio Città di Milano) in a short time. The hut serves as an ideal base for the tour and provides perfect access to the glaciated terrain.

The route leads on touring skis across the Sulden Glacier, past the Rifugio Casati, and further over the Zufall Glacier toward the summit. Most of the ascent is completed on skis, before the final section – depending on conditions – is tackled either on skis or on foot with crampons over a steeper summit slope. The ski mountaineering tour to Cevedale is not extremely technical but requires confident skiing in open terrain and a good level of fitness.

During the ascent, magnificent views open up over the surrounding glaciers, the Ortler, the Königsspitze, and numerous other 3,000-meter peaks of the region. At the summit, an impressive 360-degree panorama awaits, stretching across the Ortler Group and far into the Central Alps.
