Ski Touring Week in the Passeier Valley

A Powder Paradise in the Heart of South Tyrol

The Passeier Valley is one of the most snow-sure regions in South Tyrol, offering ideal conditions for an unforgettable ski touring week in the Alps. Surrounded by the Stubai and Ötztal Alps, this region combines breathtaking mountain scenery, endless powder slopes, and countless touring possibilities – from gentle ascents to demanding high-alpine routes.

During the week, we explore two of the valley’s most beautiful areas: Our first destination is the Timmels area, close to the Austrian border, where countless routes promise perfect powder on north-facing slopes and spring corn snow on sunny southern aspects. After each tour, we relax at Gasthof Schönau, enjoy traditional South Tyrolean cuisine, and unwind in the wellness area.

The perfect location of our accommodation allows us to go on ski tours in two different side valleys.

Starting from the Timmelsbrücke bridge:

  • Timmelsjoch (2,474m)
  • Heachnberg (2,631m)
  • Schwarzseespitze (2,988m)
  • Gürtelspitze (2,743m)

Starting from the Schneebergerbrücke bridge:

  • Schneeberghütte - Kaindljoch (2,700m)
  • Zermaidjoch (2,619m)
  • Hohe Kreuzspitze (2,743m)

The second part of the week takes us to Stuls, a sunny village that serves as an excellent base for ski tours in the Ötztal Alps. From our comfortable accommodation at Hotel Kronhof, we enjoy varied routes and panoramic descents through pristine alpine terrain.

Possible tours in the Ötztal Alps region:

  • Glaitnerhochjoch (2,389m)
  • Lake Ehrensee (2,300m)
  • Spronserjoch (2,581m)
  • Alpenspitze (2,477m)

If weather conditions are unfavorable, shorter ski tours and cultural highlights such as a visit to South Tyrol’s first brewery hotel provide great alternatives. After a day in the mountains, we relax over fine regional cuisine and a well-deserved drink – the perfect way to end a day in the snow.
