Latemar Towers Via Ferrata
"Dei Campanili" Via Ferrata with Views of Lake Carezza, Catinaccio and the Dolomites
The Latemar Towers Via Ferrata (also called Via Ferrata dei Campanili del Latemar) is one of the most scenic and varied routes in the Latemar Massif. Crossing the impressive rock ledges of the Latemar Towers, it offers spectacular panoramic views of Lake Carezza, the Rosengarten Mountains, and the surrounding Dolomite peaks – an alpine experience that perfectly combines rock climbing, views, and nature enjoyment.
The tour starts in Obereggen, from where the Oberholz chairlift takes you comfortably to the mountain station. From there, the approach leads over trails and alpine meadows to the notch below the Latemar Towers, where the via ferrata begins.
The route continues along secured sections with steel cables, combining natural ledges with exposed but well-protected passages along the massive tower walls. Varied walking sections, short climbing passages, and alpine terrain ensure an enjoyable and continuous mountain experience.
In the middle section, a detour to the Diamantidi Tower is recommended, offering even more impressive views of the Latemar ridges and surrounding peaks. At the end of the ferrata, you reach a high-altitude notch with the Bivacco Mario Rigatti – perfect for a break with views over the valley and the Dolomites. The descent follows typical mountain paths back to the alpine meadows and further to the chairlift station, from where you can easily return to the valley.
Accompanied by a certified mountain guide from South Tyrol, you can safely and comfortably experience this via ferrata – focusing fully on panoramas, alpine landscapes, and the unique Dolomite atmosphere.
