Ski mountaineering trip to Kyrgystan

Ski mountaineering tour in the Thien Shan Mountains with a traditional 4-day yurt camp and 2 different ski touring areas

The Thien Shan Mountains extend from Uzbekistan over 2000 km to western China with mountain peaks ranging from 3000 m to the famous 7000 metre peaks of Pik Pobjeda and Khan Tengri.

Our ski tour takes us to the areas around Lake Issy-Kul and the area around Karakol. Depending on the region, we start from traditional yurts or lodgings for ski tours at altitudes of up to almost 4000 metres. Our tour is accompanied by a local team and a local guide. Well-known ski tour destinations in the various areas are Djety-Oguz Peak (3,640 m), Tiurgen Peak (3,928 m) or Jergalan Peak (3,718 m) with a maximum ascent of 1,300 metres. With one or more ascents, we will find the right mix for everyone! Kyrgyzstan impresses with its fascinating landscape and, above all, its great hospitality and friendliness.

Next trip anticipated in 2024

Program:

Day 1:

Flight from Venice via Istanbul to Bishkek

Day 2:

Karakol - Yurt Camp

From Bishkek we drive approx. 400 km to Karakol. The approx. 6-hour drive through the plains of Kyrgyzstan gives us a first impression of the country. We have lunch in a typical local restaurant before travelling to the Irdyk Gorge. From here we continue on skis to the yurt camp. The luggage is transported by snowmobile. Once we arrive at the camp, a typical dinner and a warm sauna await us! The evening ends in a cosy atmosphere in the yurt.

Day 3-5:

Ski tour from the Yurt camp

Accommodated in cosy 4-person yurts at an altitude of 2300 m, we have the following tours at our disposal over the next few days: Tiurgen Peak (3,928 m), Djety-Oguz Peak (3,640 m), ski tours and summits in the Yrdyk Valley. Back at the yurts there will be refreshments and a vodka while barbecuing in the sun...

Day 6:

Decent and journey to Karakol

Today we leave the yurt camp and drive back to Karakol, the fourth largest city in Kyrgyzstan with around 70,000 inhabitants at an altitude of 1,700 metres. The day is at leisure. A visit to the market shows the almost complete range of goods in this region. Other sights include churches built entirely of wood and a Buddhist temple. In the evening we drive to Jergalan and check into a guesthouse there.
