Ice climbing in the Tinne Valley

Ice Climbing in the Tinnetal

One of South Tyrol’s Most Impressive Ice Routes

The Tinnetal is a deep gorge separating Villanders from Klausen and Latzfons, stretching all the way up to the Villanderer Alm. Starting from the Nock climbing crag, the ideal ice climbing line first follows the narrow Tinnetal and then continues left through the Finkenbach valley to the wide plateaus of the Villanderer Alm.

The full ascent is only possible in very cold winters, as the ice often doesn’t fully form or carries too much water. When conditions are right, however, this climb is one of South Tyrol’s most rewarding and longest pure ice routes – a true highlight for passionate climbers.

With a difficulty of up to WI 5- and a few easy mixed sections depending on conditions, the route is not technically extreme but demands strong endurance and solid alpine experience.
